Toronto Screening for S+L documentary on Mission, B.C. Benedictines

Matthew Harrison

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

The Benedictine monks of Westminister Abbey will be coming to the big screen in Toronto next week.
In anticipation of the Palm Sunday broadcast premiere of our latest documentary This Side of Eden, Salt + Light is offering a special public advanced screening this Tuesday, April 12th, at the Isabel Bader Theatre.
This Side of Eden captures life during Holy Week and the Easter Triduum at the Benedictine monastery in Mission, British Columbia. We see the monks living simply, yet generously. We see them at work: harrowing the fields, clearing fallen trees, and teaching students. We see them  praying together, and serving each other. We witness how the liturgy fuels their everyday activities.
While capturing the lives of the monks, the documentary offers a meditation on Christ's Passion and Resurrection. In it, the viewer is also reminded that their work, and the everyday moments of life, offers many opportunities to grow in holiness.
We hope you can join us in advance for this special, free, public screening. Space is limited though, so be sure to RSVP as soon as possible.
To RSVP, contact Antoniette at 416-971-5353, x238 or apalumbo@saltandlighttv.org. View the invitation for more details on the screening.
You can watch the film's trailer and learn more about it on our This Side of Eden microsite.
