Tonight - Within Your Gates: A Pilgrim Guide to the Holy Land

Kris Dmytrenko

Sunday, November 28, 2010

At 9pm ET / 6pm PT this evening, S+L will premiere the full-length version of Within Your Gates: A Pilgrim Guide to the Holy Land. The film originally aired in May to coincide with the first anniversary of Pope Benedict's trip to Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
Tonight's broadcast includes scenes from the city of Nablus, where, as recorded in the Gospel of John chapter 4, Jesus met the Samaritan woman at Jacob's Well. Tradition holds that this is the same well preserved in a recently-built Greek Orthodox church. S+L is among a small number of film crews to have visited this site, given the political instability that has kept pilgrims from Nablus since the church's completion. We've also added rarely-seen footage of the papal visit that was not shown during any of the live broadcasts.
Below you'll find the HD trailer for Within Your Gates. Incidentally, Psalm 122 was the responsorial psalm at Mass today. This psalm inspired the title of the documentary.
I was glad when they said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the Lord!’
Our feet are standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem.
Psalm 122:1-2, NRSV
