Do you "like" John Paul II yet?

Cheridan Sanders

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

The Vatican is using YouTube and Facebook to promote the upcoming Beatification of John Paul II.
He will be named Blessed on May 1st this year.
This official Facebook page and YouTube channel uses social networking tools to open up the vast documentary archives held by Vatican Radio and the Vatican Television Centre.
Using modern communications to evangelize has been championed by many private individuals, an excellent example would be Cale Clarke' s iPhone app The New Mass. But as World Youth Day in Sydney demonstrated, the Church is fully aware of the power of modern tools to support faith-sharing. This latest initiative suggests that the Vatican continues to make full use of the power of modern communications to spread the eternal and life-giving Word of God.
Watch clips from the Pope’s Pontificate, in various languages, here.
Or 'like' him on Facebook here.

This has truly been a World Youth Day of words. While the main theme prompts us to reflect on the verbs "to arise" and "to go with haste," many other words jumped out at me as well.
