Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO
Alex Du joined Salt + Light Media as COO in 2016, bringing with him over 20 years of business and legal experience. In the years before joining Salt + Light Media, Alex worked as an Associate in private practice and as Assistant General Counsel at one of Canada's largest media companies. During this tenure, he was responsible for providing business and legal advice on large-scale television infrastructure projects as well as on content-related matters such as acquisition and licensing, intellectual property protection, affiliate relations, regulatory affairs, technology procurement, product development, and acquisition marketing.
In 2019, Alex was appointed Interim CEO of Salt + Light Media until August 2020. During his 18-month tenure, he launched a corporate re-brand and a new website and was responsible for the development of our new online streaming service, Salt + Light Plus — all while leading the organization through the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. In November 2023, Alex was asked again to take on the reins as Interim CEO until a new CEO can be found for the organization.
Alex is a trusted advisor responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day operations and providing strategic business advice. He is an excellent communicator, consensus builder, team leader, and trusted business partner. Alex holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Master's in Philosophy from the University of Manitoba, and an LLB in Law from Dalhousie University.
“Salt + Light Media is important because, through our programming, we can help foster and nurture an intimate relationship between our viewers and Jesus by presenting Christ's message across multiple platforms, in multiple languages, 24hrs/day, 7 days/week. We can be there for them when they need that message of hope.”
