Chief Operating Officer and General Manager
Alexander joined Salt + Light Media as its first Chief Operating Officer in 2016, bringing with him over 20 years of business and legal experience. Before this role, he worked as a corporate and commercial lawyer in private practice and served as Assistant General Counsel at one of Canada's largest telecommunications and media companies. In that capacity, he provided business and legal advice on large-scale satellite and broadcast technology projects, content acquisition and licensing, intellectual property protection, affiliate relations, regulatory affairs, technology procurement, product development, and subscriber acquisition marketing.
In 2019, Alexander was appointed Interim CEO of Salt + Light Media, serving until August 2020. During this time, he oversaw a corporate rebrand, launched a new website, and spearheaded the development and rollout of the organization's online streaming service, Salt + Light Plus—all while guiding the organization through the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. In November 2023, he again assumed the role of Interim CEO, serving until December 2024, when Fr. Haig Chahinian was appointed as the new CEO.
In addition to serving as Chief Operating Officer, Alexander is the Corporate Secretary of the organization and its U.S. counterpart. As a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO and the board of directors, he oversees day-to-day operations and has consistently demonstrated his ability to master new challenges and deliver results across diverse areas. He is known for his skills as an excellent communicator, consensus builder, team leader, and trusted business partner. Alexander holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Manitoba, as well as an LLB from Dalhousie University.
