Welcome to S+L’s Weekly News Round-Up. As part of my job, I come across many interesting Catholic news stories on a daily basis. Some of them I'll cover on Perspectives Daily, and the others I’d like to share with you on this blog.  This column is where I’ll point out some of the more interesting news pieces that I’ve come across over the past week! Enjoy!
At this point in the summer, most people can be categorized into one of two groups: those who have already been on vacation and those who are yet to go on vacation. Unfortunately, I fall into the former category and thus missed out on a great article that was just released by Aleteia today on the 5 Beach destinations that feature historic Catholic churches. You have to check out the slide show that they've included and, if you are like me, start planning for next year's beach/church vacation.
Last week was all about the Knights of Columbus Annual Supreme Convention. This yearly gathering of the knights that started in 1882 brought together over two thousand knights and over 150 clergy and leaders of the church in Baltimore this year as they met to discuss the group's achievement in the past year and also the future year's goals and campaigns. To help promote the event, the Knights released this great video on its founder Fr. Michael McGivney and the birth of the Knights of Columbus.
To that effect, I thought you might also be interested in this article that showed up this week on ChurchPop on the Knights of Columbus. This article details 25 Amazing Things Too Many Catholics Don’t Know About the Knights of Columbus.
Moving along now, I came across this great infographic that explains in one image all the liturgical hats the clergy wear.
Now who doesn't love a little bit of that classy 30's decor and jazz? Well, in Rome there's a club called the Wisdomless Club, that's famous for serving up classic cocktails amid 1930s decor with original works of Christian art. Have a look:
Finally tonight, I came across this video posted by Catholic News Agency that summarizes in one minute a lengthy Pew Research study on Why Americans Go (and Don’t Go) to Religious Services. In a nutshell, the survey reveals that a significant percentage of Catholics who don’t go to church claim to practice their faith in other ways.
Well, that's all that I have for you this Friday afternoon. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you. Be sure to check back with us next Friday for more.
Also be sure to catch all the latest Catholic news and stories from around the world on Perspectives Daily. The show airs on the network Monday to Friday at 7pm Eastern, or you can catch the latest episodes online here.
We'll see you next week.
