US Bishops launch website for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life

Matthew Harrison

Monday, April 26, 2010

The United States Bishops’ Secretariat of Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations launched a new website yesterday promoting vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.  Appropriately, the launch came on on Good Shepherd Sunday, which is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations.
ForYourVocationForYourVocation.org has two goals:
  • To help individuals hear and respond to the call by God to the priesthood or consecrated life, and
  • To educate all Catholics on the importance of encouraging others through prayer and activities to promote vocations.
The site includes discernment resources for men and women, aids for promoting a vocation culture within the home, and a range of tools for educators, youth leaders and vocation directors including prayers, videos, best practices, lesson plans and vocation awareness programs.
The theme for this year's World Day of Prayer for Vocations is Witness Awakens Vocations, and in following this theme, ForYourVocation.org hosts videos of priests and religious men and women giving witness to their vocations, as well as testimonies from family members.  It also provides a Facebook fanpage, and other links to new media resources to help promote vocations, including an invitation for users to become eVangelizers.
Be sure to check out ForYourVocation.org, and pray for vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated life and for those who have responded to the call!
