Pope Francis will make his 36th apostolic journey abroad to Malta on April 2 & 3.
The theme of this visit is They Showed Us Unusual Kindness (Acts 28:2) . The visit will highlight the dangerous journeys displaced people embark upon when crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
The theme is also linked to the generous reception St. Paul received in 60 AD when he was shipwrecked upon the shores of Malta.
The Holy Father's visit will include a visit to the Grotto of St. Paul at the basilica in Rabat and a prayer meeting at the National Shrine of Ta'Pinu.

Pope Francis will make his 40th apostolic visit abroad to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and to South Sudan from January 31 to February 5.
The Holy Father will travel to the city of Kinshasa, DRC, to meet with the president, members of civil society, and victims of conflict. The theme for this portion of the visit is “All things reconciled in Jesus Christ" (Tous réconciliés en Jésus-Christ).
He will then make his Ecumenical Pilgrimage of Peace to Juba, South Sudan, with the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Moderator of the Church of Scotland. The theme for this portion of the visit is “I pray that all may be one.” (John 17)
His visit will include Holy Mass and prayer meetings with clergy, religious, and lay faithful of both countries.
