A Journey
Toward Healing
and Reconciliation

As part of the long process of healing and reconciliation between the Indigenous Peoples of Canada and the Catholic Church, a delegation of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit survivors, Elders, knowledge keepers, and youth will meet with Pope Francis in the Vatican between March 28th and April 1st, accompanied by several Canadian bishops.

Pope Francis will meet privately with each of the three groups of delegates (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit). These meetings will be an opportunity for the delegates to share openly and from the heart with the Holy Father the pain and sorrow they have experienced as individuals and as communities as a result of Canada's policies of colonization, especially residential schools, and Catholic involvement in these policies and actions. It will also be an opportunity for them to share directly with the pope about their own identities, cultures, expectations, and hopes.

On the final day, the Holy Father will hold a public meeting with all of the delegates as well as all those who have accompanied them on this important journey.

Salt + Light Media is honoured to be among those accompanying the delegates on this important occasion in pursuit of truth, healing, reconciliation, and peace. We will be bringing you daily updates from Rome along with other resources so that you, too, can accompany the delegation in spirit and lift them up with your prayers.
