Vatican Connections: What the pope hopes to achieve with his ecumenical and interfaith focus

Noel Ocol

Tuesday, February 5, 2019

This week the pope made history yet again by being the first pope ever to set foot in the Arabian Peninsula. Embarking on his 27th international apostolic journey, the Holy Father travelled to the United Arab Emirates with a very clear objective. Now the question is, what is that objective and will he achieve it with his short 3-day trip? That’s our feature story for the week. And here some of the other stories that we cover in tonight's show.
  • The pope treats over 1300 of Rome’s poor, homeless, and refugees with tickets to one of the city’s hottest and most sought-after show.
  • Just days after the largest gathering of Catholic youth in Panama, the pope reflects on the 2019 World Youth Day with fond memories.
  • The ordination of married men to the priesthood. Is it a real possibility? If so, under what circumstances?
  • And this week in the history of the Vatican, we look at the death of longest serving pope, whose body was almost dumped into the Tiber River.
All that and more on this week's edition of Vatican Connections.
