St. Benedict opens his Rule with an invitation to, "Listen... with the ear of your heart." (Prologue
) That's what thousands of people around the world have done with the beautiful chant and hymns sung by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles in the diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph in Missouri, USA.
The simple and quaint Priory of Our Lady of Ephesus is home to a community of Sisters who spend their day in prayer and work (they specialize in making vestments for priests). Their prayer is often sung and has become famous through three hit albums released in the last few years.
In February, 2014, the Sisters released "Lent at Ephesus," their latest album dedicated to the Lenten season. Listeners will hear chants from the daily Office and Mass, and a selection of famous and original pieces in Latin and English. The album has topped the billboard charts.
Salt and Light is privileged to air a special 30-minute documentary on the Sisters and their prayerful way of life in rural Missouri. Join us to hear the story of how one monastic community is touching the lives of so many people with their hymns of praise.
