Last week we were on site at the
AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) for a location scout, in preparation for filming a series of
Lenten reflections that will air on Salt + Light TV over the Lenten and Easter seasons.
Art historian and artist Fr. Eric Nicolai has graciously agreed to be a part of the project and will
offer his thoughts and comments on eight of the AGO's masterpieces that depict certain moments of Christ’s Passion as seen through the eyes of Gian Lorezo Bernini, Jacopo Tintoretto, Guido Reni, and Peter Paul Rubens, just to name a few.
Our visit was just the first step in preparation. To prepare for a fast and efficient use of our limited filming time, our production assistant, Stephanie, had to document the space, lighting, and possible shooting angles for Fr. Eric for each of the masterpieces that we're going to film. In addition to that, we also had to prepare a list of b-roll shots to accompany the main reflection reel. Needless to say, it was a lot of work but equally just as fun.
We’ll be back at the AGO during the second week of February for two days to shoot the actual segments. Then we'll have just over a week to edit all the segments and deliver them for broadcast on the network.
I’ll have another update for you with some more behind-the-scenes shots at the AGO once we start filming. So stay tuned!
