Pope Francis will make his 36th apostolic journey abroad to Malta on April 2 & 3.
The theme of this visit is They Showed Us Unusual Kindness (Acts 28:2) . The visit will highlight the dangerous journeys displaced people embark upon when crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
The theme is also linked to the generous reception St. Paul received in 60 AD when he was shipwrecked upon the shores of Malta.
The Holy Father's visit will include a visit to the Grotto of St. Paul at the basilica in Rabat and a prayer meeting at the National Shrine of Ta'Pinu.

From September 2 to 13, 2024, Pope Francis will make his 45th and longest apostolic journey abroad. The “Pope of the Margins” will visit four countries in Southeast Asia and Oceania with a diverse set of religious, ethnic, socio-economic, and political contexts: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore. Appropriately, the motto for the Timor-Leste visit is Portuguese for “May your faith be your culture.”
All four stops on this journey will include meetings with clergy, religious, and lay faithful, civil and diplomatic leaders, and young people. His visit to Indonesia will feature an interreligious meeting in Jakarta, and during his time in Papua New Guinea, he will travel to the remote city and Diocese of Vanimo.
