Tony Gagliano is Chairman and CEO of St. Joseph Communications (SJC), which was founded
by his parents, Gaetano and Giuseppina Gagliano, in the basement of their family home in 1956. Under Tony's leadership over the past 30+ years, SJC has evolved from a print business into Canada's largest privately owned print and communications company, which owns and
publishes some of Canada's most iconic media brands, including Toronto Life, Maclean's, FASHION, Chatelaine, and Today's Parent.
Tony is passionate about the arts and building stronger communities. In addition to serving as
Chair of the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation board, he is co-founder of Luminato, Toronto's Festival of Arts & Creativity, served as the President of the AGO, and has volunteered his time to numerous organizations, including St. Michael's Hospital Foundation, the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Young Presidents' Organization, Massey Hall, and Roy Thomson Hall.
His many awards and accolades include Canada's Top 40 under 40TM (1995), Ernst and Young's Ontario Entrepreneur of the Year (2013), Alumni Achievement Award from Ryerson University (2007), CIJA and UJA Federation Words & Deeds Leadership Award (2008), Canadian Club of Toronto's Canadians of the Year (2008), Business for the Arts' Edmund C. Bovey Award for Philanthropy in the Arts (2017), and an honorary doctorate of laws degree from York University (2018).
