THE ORGANIZATION

With offices in Toronto, Montréal, and Washington, D.C., Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation (Salt + Light Media), a Canadian registered charity, is devoted to spreading the Light of Christ to the world through television, social media, podcasts, print, and other forms of digital communication in English, French, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Its specialty television network, Salt + Light TV, is carried across Canada on all major cable providers, satellite television services, digital television platforms, Roku, and Amazon Fire.
We are dedicated to helping others become the “salt of the earth and the light of the world.” Our mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ and the joy of the Gospel to the world by telling stories of hope that bring people closer to Christ and the Catholic faith.
Salt + Light Media is implementing a growth strategy that will expand the reach of its mission and bring its message to more people around the world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Social Media Specialist will create engaging Catholic digital content that evangelizes, educates, and engages young Catholics across French- and English-speaking communities.
• The specialist will develop and produce bilingual social media content, including reels, stories, and posts that showcase Catholic faith experiences within Francophone communities. This includes recording and editing video content from French-language Catholic events and youth gatherings using software such as CapCut or Adobe Premiere and, where appropriate, AI-powered tools. The role also requires creating French-language content for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, as well as designing graphics using Canva or similar platforms.
• A key responsibility is translating and adapting content between French and English while preserving cultural authenticity. The specialist will create content that reflects Quebec Catholic culture and Francophone spiritual traditions while maintaining professional language standards.
• The specialist will support promotional and fundraising initiatives by creating social media content for campaigns targeting French-speaking donors and audiences. This includes promoting Salt + Light's French-language programming and developing content for major liturgical seasons such as Advent and Lent.
• Community engagement responsibilities include monitoring and responding to French-language social media comments, identifying trends within Francophone Catholic communities, and collaborating with team members to develop content strategies that effectively reach young Francophone audiences.

SKILLS TO DEVELOP

Technical skill development includes learning video production basics and editing techniques for short-form content while developing visual storytelling skills that connect faith with youth culture. Professional development opportunities include participating in team meetings, building a portfolio of social media content, and learning nonprofit communication strategies.

WORKING HOURS

Regular 40-hour work week (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) for a period of 8 weeks.
