The year's group consists of the newly elected President of the CCCB, Archbishop Richard Smith of Edmonton, the new Vice President, Archbishop Paul-André Durocher of Gatineau, and the General Secretary, Msgr. Patrick Powers.
The Canadians bore a number of gifts for the Pope. They included the first copy of the new translation of the Roman Missal, which was specially bound for the Holy Father. He also received a copy of the S+L documentary Put Out Into the Deep: The New St. Joseph Seminary
. The DVD introduces viewers to the seminarians who are answering a call to the priesthood, as well as to the art and architecture of the new campus. Finally, the Pope received an illustrated book about the seminary.
The Canadians continue their meetings in Rome until the 18th. During that time, they will have met with as many as 27 offices of the Vatican.
