In his letter to the Council the Holy Father said work is thought of in terms of maximum profits and the competitive market, while time off is thought of as escaping and a as a potential time to consume things. He said the next International Meeting for Families is an opportunity to reflect on work and rest from the point of view of the family. You can read more on his message from

Bishop Erminio De Scalzi, an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Milan, said the Archdiocese of Milan is looking forward to hosting this international meeting and hopes to be able to provide free housing to as many participants as possible by having Milanese families host international families. The archdiocese and the Pontifical Council for the Family estimate that as many as 500,000 people could attend the event, based on the numbers of past meetings.
