On Pilgrimage: What is Jerusalem’s Worth?

Saturday, December 23, 2017

Prevain Devendran

Last month, I had the honour of traveling on pilgrimage to the Holy Land (Israel, Palestine and Jordan)with Salt + Light TV. Being on pilgrimage, is an entirely different experience than being a tourist. To the Christian, being on pilgrimage means to walk the same path, to see the same sights, and to encounter the same crowds that Our Lord would have as He triumphantly entered Jerusalem, with the knowledge He was bound for confrontation with the authorities.

Experiences in the Holy Land and an eye opening connection to my very own generation is close to the only words that can be used to describe this pilgrimage.

*Update: My reflection is done! Check it out below: We are three days into our pilgrimage in the Holy Land. It’s been an absolutely incredible experience so far, walking in the footsteps of our Lord. The experience of fishing with Jesus

Chris Adamczyk

A fond memory I have growing up is that of fishing with my brother and my friends. There is something about the peace and calm that is necessary to fish that makes you more open in prayer and friendship. We read in the gospels that Jesus called his disciples right here on the shores of […]

To witness Jesus teaching The Beatitudes…

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

Chris Adamczyk

It is here on the Mount of Beatitudes that many witnessed Jesus’ teaching on the Beatitudes. Here his voice carried over the hills, between the trees, mixed in the air with the sun, the hills, the birds, the grass and the people. We tend to want to picture and pray about this moment with a […]

That moment when the Church was founded – #SLPilgrimage at Caesarea Philippi

Monday, June 27, 2016

Sebastian Gomes

The flush region of Caesarea Philipi is about an hour’s drive north of the Sea of Galilee.  It was given to Herod the Great by Caesar Augustus around 20 BCE, who in turn handed it down to his son Philip.  Philip named it Caesarea in honor of Caesar, and his own name eventually became associated […]

A Parent’s Pilgrimage – #SLPilgrimage

Sunday, May 8, 2016

Marc Boudignon

A couple of months before arriving in Jerusalem, I was driving my six-year-old daughter to school and she asked me about Jesus’ footprints. Not the real one located inside the Chapel of the Ascension, rather, she wanted to talk about the ones from famous poem called Footprints. She had seen the poster of it hung […]

A timeless memorial to the millions…

Thursday, April 28, 2016

Chris Adamczyk

A timeless memorial to the millions… During our Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands, we made a visit to a place the name of which I never knew, but which now I will never forget. It was a place of silence, a time to listen to the silenced, to the echoing cries of suffering, and to […]
