Relive Last Year's International Eucharistic Congress

iecAs June rolls around this year, I am reminded of the International Eucharistic Congress held in Quebec City last year. It was an intense week of catechesis and witness talks, beautiful Masses, a powerful Ordination Mass (which will be broadcast Saturday, June 27 at 7.30 pm ET) and a very wet and chaotic closing Mass!
Personally, I experienced many "I never thought of it that way!" moments while listening to the presenters. I am reminded particularly of José H. Prado Flores, who spoke of being a faithful Catholic all his life, but his faith was in his head -- not his heart. He wasn't loving others as Jesus did -- he was not giving himself to others. It was this idea of service, of giving of oneself, the idea of "Ite Missa Est" -- to go forth, to bring Christ to others -- that has stuck with me some 12 months later.
Recently we have been re-broadcasting some of the talks. For the remainder of June, from Friday through Monday you can catch a catechesis or witness talk. You can revisit those "I never thought of it that way!" moments, laugh with those in attendance, and even shed some tears (the witness talk by Father Nicolas Buttet, the Founder of the Eucharistein Fraternity, which airs this Sunday at 8pm ET, comes to mind).
