Jesus our dawn

Julian Paparella

Monday, May 22, 2023

Have you ever felt stuck in the dark, longing for some new light to shine in your life? Jesus knows what it’s like to feel trapped in the darkness. That’s what He experienced on the night of Holy Thursday, as he waited to be put on trial and condemned. So too, Jesus comes to sit with us when we experience darkness in our own lives. It may be the pain we carry within us because of hardships in life, or because of our regrets for things we’ve done, or even hurt caused by things that others have done to us. Jesus comes to sit with us right there, in our deepest darkness.
He comes to be our Light. He is the morning star that rises in our hearts. And slowly but surely, He leads us out of the darkness, step by step. Sometimes we may turn away from Him and stare back at the shadows, but He patiently waits for us. He never abandons us. Jesus has conquered all darkness, let Him be your Light. Let Him come and be with you. Let Him lead you out of the shadows of Your life. Let Jesus be the dawn that rises in your heart to chase away the darkness of the night. Come, Jesus, be our Light. Shine in us, through us, and around us. Amen.
