Every Catholic high school in the province of Ontario has a chaplain, and increasingly, school boards are incorporating elementary school chaplains as well. In many school boards, chaplains are required to teach, but that is not their main role. They are responsible for the pastoral care of the whole school community. On March 1, 2019, school chaplains from the province of Ontario gathered in Toronto for the annual Catholic School Chaplains of Ontario Conference. Deacon Pedro was there and had the chance to speak to some of the chaplains about their work, their hopes, and the advice they would offer to younger chaplains.
