Catholic Focus: Children of God

baptism-icon.jpgI am so blessed in my line of work to be able to meet inspiring individuals on a daily basis. With every show requiring the seeking out of new topics and new interviewees, my searches have continued to lead me to what I like to call ‘spiritual pots of gold’. My pot o’ gold for this month came in the form of a catechist from Newmarket, Ontario who led me on an amazing journey of faith renewal… and it couldn’t have come at a better time. You may remember my previous post about my newborn nephew Nathaniel. Well, it just so happens that my becoming his godmother falls on the very same week that Catholic Focus’ episode on Baptism premiers.
There were many reasons behind wanting to revisit the meaning, beauty and depth of this great sacrament. It goes without saying that the main one was to make sure that I fully understood what it means to be a spiritual mother. The ‘gold clad’ woman who was to become my guide (and soon to be yours!) is none other than catechist Christine Way Skinner. One quick glance at her CV and it was very clear why she came so highly recommended by the Archdiocese of Toronto. To be a good teacher is a gift and Christine has indeed been blessed with this talent. In tonight’s episode of Catholic Focus she breaks down the elements of the Sacrament of Baptism in very real terms drawing from both the Good Book and her lived experiences. You’ll also hear from many new parents in all stages of their faith journey who share their thoughts as they prepare for their child’s receipt of the indelible mark of Christ that will change their life forever.
Catholic Focus: Children of God premiers tonight at 7pm and 11pm ET with an encore presentation Sunday at those same times. Tune in…if not to at least get your baby therapy in for the week!
