Bishop Crosby: Let us pray

Matthew Harrison

Saturday, November 13, 2010

"Let us pray."
Those were the first words that Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, made as the Bishop of the Diocese of Hamilton, Ontario.
It's that calling people to prayer that Bishop Crosby saw appropriate as his first action as Bishop.
The 62-year old prelate was installed as the ninth Bishop of Hamilton this past Monday.
In addition to noting those first words, Bishop Crosby shared that he is familiar with the strong work ethic of Hamilton -- the iron ore that is smelted in Hamilton comes from his old diocese of Corner Brook Labrador.  In his homily he also offered humourous anecdotes, became emotionally moved recounting his past ministry, and showed his pastoral side discussing his motto.
Many -- from the lay faithful, to his brother bishops -- were on hand for the installation Mass.  If you missed the beautiful Mass streamed live on Salt+Light we invite you to see the broadcast presentation Saturday, November 13th at 8pm ET / 9pm PT.  Or see it Sunday, November 14th at 1pm ET/10am PT.
