“Because By Your Holy Cross You Have Redeemed the World!”

Have you ever prayed the Stations of the Cross and felt a strong connection with one particular station?  I found the response interesting when myself and producer Gillian Kantor asked some local parishioners what station they most associated with.  One of the more popular choices were the three falls of Christ.  I think it’s so easy to glaze over these three stations because, well, it occurs three times!  But each station on the Way of the Cross, has it’s own uniqueness, it’s own beauty, it’s own strength.
On tonight's episode of Catholic Focus myself and Gillian Kantor take a look at the Stations of the Cross.  We visit Holy Family Parish in Toronto to speak with parishioners and film their beautiful Stations of Cross service.  Father Terence J. Fay, a professor in the Department of History at the Toronto School of Theology, visits our studios to discuss the history of the devotion.  Father Robert Gendreau, the director of the Toronto World Youth Day’s Way of the Cross, reflects on that stunning production from July 2002.  And finally, Gillian Kantor offers a reflection on the Via Dolorosa after a recent trip to the Holy Land.
I hope when you see the Stations of the Cross from these four angles that you will have a deeper appreciation for this great devotion.  And if you do not pray this devotion, take thirty minutes to discover it!
A closer look at the Stations of the Cross airs Tuesday on Catholic Focus at 7pm ET and 11pm ET.
