From March 5 to 8, Pope Francis will make his 33rd overseas apostolic journey to Iraq, the first ever visit of a pope to this Middle Eastern nation and Pope Francis' first time travelling since the start of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
This apostolic visit to Iraq brings hope to the dwindling Christian population of the area, who have faced persecution from ISIS and have seen their homes destroyed.
In his four-day, four-province tour of the country, Pope Francis will bring with him messages of peace and continued interreligious dialogue.
